Is there any way to have the TV prioritize the initialization of this app when starting up? It would be nice to not have to wait as long for the custom button bindings to kick in.

@stamminator Sorry for the late response.

The app currently runs as soon as the homebrew channel's startup script runs, which attempts to run as soon as possible after the TV boots.
Depending on your WebOS version, you might have some luck modifying this application to have the TV start up with the inputhook application open, and it might be able to run the service sooner than normal autostart would. I have not tested this though.
