http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=P9Y-ProcessTable+1.08 shows no test reports for FreeBSD, despite it is one of the most often tested platforms (after Linux). Reason is probably that BSD::Process does not pass tests since FreeBSD 9 (see https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=88975 ). The bug report is quite old and and it does not seem that the current maintainer will fix it.

What are the solutions?

  • tell users to force install BSD::Process (after all it may be that the test failure is not that problematic)?
  • take over maintainership of the module?
  • use another implementing module --- it would be even pragmatic to use Proc::ProcessTable here, which has quite good FreeBSD support?

This option does not apply for FreeBSD 11, see https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=122947
