When creating a new contact, an email is required whether it is a user or person account, yet you can not get to the contact tab to enter this data. The error shown is a general error that the wrong field will be highlighted, but nothing is called out.

When an email is required, you must be able to enter it in the profile tab or the email should not be required initially if a student number is provided.

Current thinking:

  • Allow users to be created without an email address
  • Show visible warning for users without any email in SlateAdmin
  • Test what happens when a user tries to recover password with username that has no email

The first bullet above is fixed in SlateFoundation/slate#163 by SlateFoundation/slate@daad55c but we might want to keep this issue open until we address the second two bullets
