There's no good way to move stuff from one part of the colony to another. Like for example, there's a monument being built, and you have a wheelbarrow but loading the wheelbarrow will make the colonists get bricks from all over the colony, including from the monument worksite.
Describe the solution you'd like
If you can let players define "Loading Zones" similar to stockpile zones, allowed areas and growing zones,
you can create this game mechanic:
Clicking on the Load Cargo button on a vehicle will show the Loading Menu right?
Let the Loading Menu show only items inside the Loading Zone that the vehicle is in.
This facilitates the intent of "taking a lot of stuff from here to there".
"Like, take all these nearby marble bricks and take it to the construction site. Don't waste time loading bricks that are farther away. We'll pick those up after we move the wheelbarrow nearer to them."
This applies only if the vehicle is in a loading zone. Otherwise, show items inside the entire colony, as usual.
So what if the vehicle is inside several overlapping loading zones? you can let the menu show contents of both zones.
Or you can let the player select which loading zone he wishes to load from, from a drop down menu inside the Loading Menu.
This will allow him to load stuff from across the map, which isn't really our intended use, but it creates possibilities =D
This drop down menu should have as its default loading zone, one of the zones that the vehicle is in.
It should also have available a loading zone called "Entire Colony"
