Currently, raid mobs spawn on the surface, and their often struggles to actually get them into the village, leaving them, for example, wandering on the surface nearby or in nearby caves

There are many possible fixes to this issue. The mob AI could be tweaked to lead them to the village entrance, or they could spawn underground in the village. It might be cool if an explosion blasts a hole in a wall village to let the raid mobs in.
