Antivirus incompatibilities #27
Comments
Well, for me, it isn't being deleted, but Windows Smartscreen gets suspicious about things, sometimes, I think. |
Hi I’ve been having the same issue, please let me know if there’s any updates! |
All we can really do is ask that you report the files as false positives to your antivirus vendor Which antivirus software are you using and what exactly is it getting detected as? |
MacAfee.. just deleting every version and the web version of the antivirus doesn't even let me download it. |
I have already made all possible good-faith efforts to report our files as false positives to McAffee. The only solution is for you, as a customer of McAffee, to report a false positive to them, or switch antivirus providers if they are too incompetent handle simple requests such as that. For transparency, here is our VirusTotal report: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/81c81bd9d56cca946eda7d420ee5c590b3bcf1ce6587b81f86ca67a6f73ef37f/detection. I have never heard of "Jiangmin" before and the front page of Google for it has a list of security vulnerabilities in their product and people complaining that it detects some versions of VLC as a virus. |
Fixed, no more viruses found. Check the report |
we keep this issue open for visibility, because this is a persistent issue that never quite goes away |
Windows AntiVirus. |
The windows smartscreen isn't windows saying that the installers are malicious, just that it's not been run very much so you should be careful. This makes sense since you just generated the file, no one else has ran it before. For Avast flagging Packager Extras as malware, if their false positive report tool does not work, you should escalate to support as much as possible and perhaps even vote with your wallet if they are unable to resolve it for you. |
this used to say 1 detection, now six, even though it is quite literally the same file, byte for byte. lovely https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/a1bda9487ec6adb07e89fec55f6c96756741e550d647558769b1ed5cc1113381 |
