Create handbook page with slides people can use to promote Learn and the Training Team #1603

It would be great to link videos of these presentations on this page also: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C02RW657Q/p1692984785556599 |
One thing we need to encourage is the subtitling of the videos that are listed as none of them seem to be subtitled. If the various speakers had a script they used, this would help the subtitling. Perhaps the most useful evergreen content could be added as a task(s) on GitHub. Subtitling makes translation so much easier, and is important for different learning styles and accessibility. Some of the videos do not have slides linked. This should be an easier fix. |
On this video (just using as an example for Handbook page slides) https://wordpress.tv/2023/03/31/how-do-you-learn-wordpress/ , it refers to slido.com and to enter a code to join as a live participant. As this video is also available as recorded video, and this will probably affect other live presentations too, does there need to be an additional step or note to add what people watching a recording should do/ how to access slides? In the case of this video, there is a link in the bottom right to the slides, which is useful. On a related note, some slides on Learn.WordPress.org use Slideshare, but there now seems to be limits or fees for access, which might be worth checking out. Is there a place on Learn.WordPress.org where slides are planned to be shared in the future @bsanevans ? Thanks. Update: turns out you can't download the slides from @jonathanbossenger for Learn WP without signing up to the free trial which means giving financial information to do this, and signing up with information that takes a certain amount of information from the user. So if it is not already planned to have a slide area within the project, this would be worth exploring. |
Thanks for keeping the conversation going 🙂 The Training Team has access to a dedicated Google Drive, which I see being the ideal place to host these resources. As far as I know, the team hasn't had a formal conversation about how folks can get information uploaded there. It seems to have been used more in the past, and not so much in recent years. We'll need to clean up the folder to archive old items etc. But the shared slides discussed in this issue could be stored there. I believe anyone can create a Google account and edit Google Slides without providing payment information. |
Checking in on the status of this handbook page. I did a Learn Resources presentation recently and I created a doc that is now in the team drive. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hLRHtUz22eGdVgiz8PzV30ZRNIcs7KD524B-abMLirU/edit |
I am creating the handbook page - Training Team Presentation Resources Please provide comments. Here is the Google sheets that will be added with resources. Thoughts? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gKmH2ATek_Exrfaq9mck-gJ8qlfqxBZDeoVdF8b9Lcs/edit?usp=sharing |
The idea is to have a centralized place where we link slide decks people can use to promote Learn.WordPress.org and the Training Team. A list of slides have already been shared in this Slack thread: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C02RW657Q/p1685409333949619
