Describe the bug
No new email count in the tray icon under a number of circumstances. This can range from starting TB after it was not running to leaving it to run for some time and sleeping/resuming the system. New emails exist in accounts/folders but the tray icon remains the default TB icon. It might be the case when TB filters some new emails down to local folders, but this is unconfirmed.

Also the new email count is too tiny when it works. Please change the icon in favor of increasing the size of the numbers rather than any other visual elements such as background. Please check the old FireTray that stopped working around TB v.60 - their number icon was perfect size.

To Reproduce
Unclear

Expected behavior
The count of new unread emails has to display in the tray

Again, I got a new email, rules moved it to local folders, and there is no new email indicator in the tray.

Any idea when this may be fixed?

Please uninstall Systray-X with the bash script used to install it. The scripts are not up to date and never will be.
I do not support or create the bash install scripts anymore.

Uninstall the addon from the Thunderbird Tools->Addon and Themes->Systray-X->...-> Remove
Make sure all the components are removed from your local directories:

~/.mozilla/native-messaging-hosts/SysTray_X.json
~/.thunderbird/xxxxx.default/extensions/[email protected]

Then add the repository for Fedora, see README.md.
This will contain the latest version of SysTray-X (0.9.10).
And your problem is probably already solved by a newer release.

And use a newer Thunderbird....

We use old TB for a very good reason: the further, the worse it becomes.
Thanks for the instructions, I'll give them a try now!

Notice new syntax for DNF5 that geniuses @fedoraproject decided to change, in their wisdom:

sudo dnf config-manager addrepo --from-repofile=https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Ximi1970:/Mozilla:/Add-ons/Fedora_41/home:Ximi1970:Mozilla:Add-ons.repo

Might want to update README.MD with this.

This was nasty:

Problem: package systray-x-gnome-0.9.10-1.1.x86_64 from home_Ximi1970_Mozilla_Add-ons requires thunderbird >= 91, but none of the providers can be installed

Going back.

Happily back on TB50 with Firetray which has no issues and not dragging 250+ MB of dependencies in 60+ packages along. You might want to rethink your development practices as currently the usability of your add-on is near the bottom.

As regards to new versions of TB, they are nothing but a cluster of troubles while offering zero new useful functionality since about 15+ years ago. So to convince TB users to update one needs way stronger arguments than just the ability to use SysTrayX.

I know reality sometimes is cruel but this is the way it is.
