Please give us a description of what happened

We've received a few reports of users saying that after using the Republish feature in the plugin, the notice : "“A duplicate of this post was made. Please note that any changes you make to this post will be replaced when the duplicated version is republished.” doesn't go away.

One user added the following info:
When you look for the "Rewrite" version of the post, it doesn't exist in the Post dashboard, but we can find it in the database and found it has the post_status "dp-rewrite-republish." We can then access it manually by using the ID in the WP dashboard Edit Post URL.
I checked other posts with this post_status "dp-rewrite-republish" and none of them show up in the Post Dashboard but they exist in the database. I then checked posts that are the "— Rewrite & Republish of" version of the published post and their post_status is "draft" in the database. So I think the issue is with the post_status "dp-rewrite-republish."

Another user:
_After Republishing a post, I’m still seeing a dialog box on the post page that says, “A duplicate of this post was made. Please note that any changes you make to this post will be replaced when the duplicated version is republished“. Additionally, the “Rewrite & Republish” option for that post is no longer visible.

It seems the issue is that the duplicated post that has since been republished still exists in the database with a post_status of dp-rewrite-republish. If I delete that post from the database, it resolves the issue._

I've tried reproducing this issue on my end without success. I've tried the following:

  1. Created a new post and published it. This post had a post ID of 478
  2. In the post sidebar, I clicked on "Rewrite and Republish"
  3. I was taken to a new post edit screen with post ID 480. There, I edited the title, content and slug.
  4. Going back to post ID 478, I see the notice, as expected.
  5. Clicked on "Republish" on ID 480
  6. The republished post, with the modified content is sent back to post ID 478. Post ID 480 no longer exists.

Creating this issue for tracking.
