Hi,

I moved to Hyperion and Android Grabber. Not using that many DRM content so I should be fine. But Hyperion Android Grabber from Google Store is not working correct with any video that I play. Not matter if DRM or not. The rainbow effect when I start grabber works great and fast. When I exit it, I can still see the GUI inside Live video. But any video that I play (Smart Tube Next, Emby, my IPTV provider app, Skyshowtime, ...), will not show.

Using Xiaomi Mi Stick 4K (model MiTV-AYFR0). It is Android 11 with kernel 5.4.180. SW version RTT0.211222.001.1379.

I have also uninstalled the store version and pushed the 1.1 beta version, but there is not difference.

What could be the issue?

Thank you for your support.

It's interesting you mention smart tube next, I just installed hyperion screen grabber and was having the same problems. I figured I'd try digging through the settings and found this setting:

Settings -> Video Player -> Developer options -> Ambilight/Aspect ratio/Screenshots fix

And now STN works with hyperion grabber perfectly! I wonder what this setting actually does to allow this to work. STN is open source so it should be possible to figure out from the source code.

I'm still having problems with plex but it's good to know there's a potential fix out there!

I'm running this on a chromecast with google tv on android 12.

For more info too, the only other apps I use on this thing are retroarch and moonlight. Retroarch has no issues, moonlight has the same problems.

Same problem with my Xiaomi TV Box 2gen, does not work on Youtube or Jellyfin, it seems that with the Twitch app if it works, what matters most to me is that it works on my Jellyfin, in the menu works ambilight without problems, when I play a movie, Hyperion receives the screen recording in black and can not change the colors of the LEDs, any solution?

Thank you!

Any progress regarding this? With new Android version they removed support for screen grabbing? I am not saying it should work for DRM content, but everywhere else I still have my hopes up. Been a while since I last turned the LED behind the TV and I sure miss them.

Did you found a solution? For a workaround I need to use Kodi with Jellyfin plugin instead of the Jellyfin app.

Any update on this problem yet ?

I changed to NVIDIA Shield and have 0 issues now, as for Xiaomi Stick - for YouTube you need to use alternative app SmartTubeNext with "Ambilight/Aspect ratio/Screenshots fix" option enabled in developer options, for Jellyfin I was using Kodi, or you can use an external player.

Unfortunately my android tv is embedded in my TV

That's okay, you still can achieve these things. As "external player" I mean external app. You want to watch media on Jellyfin with Hyperion or something else?

Mostly jellyfin ,i run a home server beside youtube for my kids

Go to the options in Jellyfin androidtv app, then press Player, and change "preferred media player" to something else.

I just tried VLC and still not working

Try setting "external app" there. After that go to play store and install some app like "MX Player".

Same problem MX not working

Hmm, then I think you need to download Kodi. You don't need to import your media there, just use it as an external player from Jellyfin. Make sure to enable that option in Kodi first:

So using Kodi player as external player andblnnu removing Hardware acceleration - Media Codec (Surface), it works...
