Most likely, the DEMs available in the RAGMAC experiment won't fit exactly the validation period. One might have to use DEMs from a different year.
One strategy could be to take the regional MB time series from the Zemp et al 2019 paper (link) to calculate the anomaly of a given year compared to the period's average.

when using this, we would need to back convert extrapolated mass change from Zemp et al. to volume change, and for short timescales it will be interesting to see how it works with densities :)
