To start, this would probably be a predetermined set of options. For example:

  • Horizontal: strings along the left-right direction
  • Vertical: strings along the up-down direction
  • Depth: strings along the back-forth direction, probably slightly tipped vertically such that the strumming area is lower than the chord area
  • Looking Down: strings along a direction that you'd expect when looking down at a guitar on your lap (or hanging on a strap)

Related settings might be:

  • Low-E String Position: top/bottom (default: top)
  • Strumming Hand: right/left (default: right)
  • String Spacing: standard (default), wide (easier picking), narrow (easier chord strumming)
  • Lock to Head Position: yes/no (default: yes?), would allow you to move around until you're in the desired position/orientation relative to the guitar

Future feature: pinch/select the corners of the guitar, and scale/rotate it however you want.

In my local build, the chord selector and string segments are slightly rotated inwards to be facing the eyes rather than facing "straight forward". The new radial chord selector is completely separate from the strings now, so the two main chord/string elements could now be positioned independently.

Shroompants via Reddit:

I'd probably like to preposition the chord circle and the string to really get it nice. Like being able to stand 'over' it, trying to imagine an actual guitar. [...] rotating either independently should be good. So looking down I see the circle flat, but the string are vertical against me. Again idk if this is actually playable, but having the option is nice.
