Is this supposed to work over SSH?

I'm a bit confused on the usecase this script can be used in. Does it assume the user uses SSH with X11-forwarding or how else would be notifications show on the local device if the weechat in tmux is running on a remote device? I might've misunderstood the purpose of the script as the mentions of SSH in the README.md lead me to believe this would somehow work over SSH.
