TexLive Utility under MacOS High Sierra #140
Comments
TeX Live 2023 has recently been released, so older versions of TeX Live will not be receiving further updates. According to the website, you can install TeX Live 2023 as far back as Mac OS 10.6.8 using the UNIX installer. Follow the detailed instructions here: https://www.tug.org/mactex/mactex-unix-download.html |
Thank you for the quick answer.
The Unix install worked well on my High-Sierra-Mac.
Download time 01:50:04 h
One issue occurred:
*** PLEASE READ THIS WARNING ***********************************
The following (inessential) packages failed to install properly:
de-macro emo findpkg luatex
You can fix this by running this command:
tlmgr update --all --reinstall-forcibly-removed
to complete the installation.
However, if the problem was a failure to download (by far the
most common cause), check that you can connect to the chosen mirror
in a browser; you may need to specify a mirror explicitly.
******************************************************************
Thomass-iMac-2% tlmgr update --all --reinstall-forcibly-removed
tlmgr: Local TeX Live (2022) is older than remote repository (2023).
Cross release updates are only supported with
update-tlmgr-latest(.sh/.exe) --update
See https://tug.org/texlive/upgrade.html for details.
Thomass-iMac-2% tlmgr update --all --reinstall-forcibly-removed
tlmgr: package repository https://mirror.ctan.org/systems/texlive/tlnet (not verified: gpg unavailable)
You don't have permission to change the installation in any way,
specifically, the directory /usr/local/texlive/2023/tlpkg/ is not writable.
Please run this program as administrator, or contact your local admin.
tlmgr: An error has occurred. See above messages. Exiting.
Thomass-iMac-2%
I will ignore this message as I’m not using luatex.
Best regards from Germany

Hello experts and everyone,
I´m working on a Mac mid-2011, MacOS 10.13.6 High Sierra.
Until a few weaks ago I was able to update my LaTex files via TexLive Utility although I got the hint to upgrade to TexShop 2023 (MacTex 2023), which requires MacOS 10.14 or higher. MacOS 10.14 does not work on my elderly Mac.
My issue:
When trying to upgrade via TexLive Utility I recently result in the message "Auflistung fehlgeschlagen" (fail to list needed update files from the repository). I tried out several repositories from German universities, same result.
Have I to accept as a fact, that updates are not possible anymore for me?
Thanks in advance for an advise.
Thomas
