We consider owning a NFT like having bought a premium subscription for the game. While the wallet is connected to the game account, the user will receive points or currency every X amount of time.
Do this monthly, weekly or whatever timeframe you like. It doesn't really matter.
The important part is what users can do with the points. You can't really offer them buffs or items, because that will put free to play players in disadvantage.
What if we create a world buff?
When players spend points, everyone active at that time gets the bonus. Paid users get something for the money, while free users don't feel left out.
Make it a high price goal where multiple users need to crowdfund points to activate the buff. This way it doesn't feel like charity from one user to the rest. Make it a team effort.
You can sell points separately as well, I don't think it devalues the NFT. It's all about pricing. Calibrate so that holding the NFT is cheaper than constantly buying points.
