Howdy, hoping all is well. The description of this sounds very promising.
The Github frontpage says "See the project website for details and live demos." which links to the following:

https://recogito.github.io/annotorious/

This leads to a 404. When typing "annotorious" on the website it makes a quick mentioning of "a geotagging feature that allows users to link annotations to gazetteer entries."

Yikes, I should really update the (outdated) Readme on this repo.

All work on Annotorious–including the OpenSeadragon version–has moved to the main repo:

https://github.com/annotorious/annotorious

The project website, incl. demos is at:

https://annotorious.dev

The old web address is now being re-used by a different product, Recogito Studio. The geo-tagging feature does not relate to Annotorious at all, but is an extension to the Recogito Studio platform.
