Releases: apparition47/MailTrackerBlocker
0.4.10 Safe and Sound
Another round of thanks to MailTrackerBlocker users who submitted their .eml
s; we uncovered even more trackers that flew under the radar as well as some region-targeted LiveIntent ad banners that change when loaded. This makes the first email ad banner ban.
Changelog
- reduced generic tracker false positives by unmatching image tags with CSS border-width 0 or 1
- added identifier rules to capture missed trackers
- added PersistIQ, Shopify
- expanded Mailgun rule
- blocked LiveIntent ads (thanks Peter J.)
- expanded Amazon and LinkedIn rules (thanks Robert R.)
- added NTT West (thanks Philippe W.)
- added Acoustic rule (thanks Steve H.)
0.4.9 Sooner or Later
Thanks to MailTrackerBlocker users who submitted their .eml
s to help unveil those unknown trackers!
Changelog
- added 12 more previously unidentified trackers (thanks Robert R., @m-schmitt)
- fixed minor English typo on Tracker Report page
0.4.8 Nature Calls
Had to push this one out as I've been making a number of tracker rule reassignments and aggregations over the past few versions.
Changelog
- fixed crash when revisiting emails in certain cases (caused by an email's previously identified tracker with an older version of MailTrackerBlocker being reidentified in a newer version due to rule changes).
- #129 added general rule for Responsys (thanks @j-f1).
- (Also see previous changelog for more recent changes)
0.4.7 Call of the Wild
In the previous update, I asked MailTrackerBlocker users for help in tracking down unknown trackers (denoted by a grey ⓧ icon) by sending me their emails. Thanks to Robert R., Bill S., Peter J. for answering the call!
Changelog
- improved Aurea, SendGrid, SparkPost, Salesforce, ActiveCampaign rules to match custom domains
- added We Are Web, Dating Profits, Mailbird, Omnisend, Dynamics 365, Zoho Campaigns, Yahoo! Japan rules
0.4.6 Spick and Span
Still a lot of unknown trackers out there (indicated by a solid grey ⓧ
). If you're seeing this in your email, feel free to send it to me (.eml
format) because I'd definitely like to add it to the list!

0.4.2 Updater
In the news
Apple recently announced macOS 12/Monterey (and iOS 15) with Mail Privacy Protection. Apple being in the game (albeit with an opt-in thing) I imagine will have a pretty big impact on spy pixels as they are today. And because this first-party feature will be built into Mail, as an initial reaction at least, it doesn't makes much sense for MailTrackerBlocker to support macOS 12.
Changelog
Mainly fixes for older macOS systems (pre-macOS 11/Big Sur).
- Updated ruleset for Drop and Twitch
- #116 #117 #119 fixed Tracker Report UI issues (thanks @phiw13 @space-chicken)
- Fixed licenses not showing on older macOS systems
- #120 fixed "Update.pkg is damaged" error on older macOS systems (thanks William P.)
- Fixed manual update not working when "automatically check for updates" is disabled
- #115 Fixed update UI issue when no update available (thanks @space-chicken)
0.4.1 Reporter
The biggest feature update yet.
What's new?
- The Tracker Report. Inspired by a similar feature in Safari, this feature keeps a summary of emails as you read them and will tell you:
- total number of trackers seen
- the ratio of tracked emails to untracked emails
- most recurring tracker seen
- a list of your emails grouped by tracker vendor
Try it by hitting MailTrackerBlocker's ⓧ
button then the ℹ️
button on the popover to access this new report screen!
- Update check. This has been the top requested feature in Issues for a while now. Be sure to allow it when prompted!
