Quite a pleasant meeting caused by the fact that Staci indeed was focused on us as announced in her "Friday meetings with the founders", and not on the Foundation. So basically, I was presenting what we need and what my/our opinion is on how they can help us. The conclusion is that we as the community will get some direct contact with Algorand Inc. related to both the FIFA+ problem we have got and other things related to our project and community problems, like participating in the marketing they provide for the ecosystem. Btw, if I understood correctly. she as a US citizen isn't even allowed to take part in Foundation related to spending Foundation funds (like Grant proposals), but in the follow-ups we should get those mentioned contacts that can help in that too. |

Today at 10 A.M. ET, @ipaleka is meeting Staci from the Algorand Foundation.
Please, here below, add the questions you want to ask!
sensorium — Today at 9:14 AM
ASA Stats is currently in development process. The goal is to become the fastest and most accurate platform for price / portfolio representation and the home for every Algorand user.
(explain technicality and future plans for the platform)
Subtly try to push the conversation in possible partnership / collaboration discussion with Algorand to be the platform of choice.
sensorium — Today at 9:22 AM
Also the thing worth mentioning is the security of using ASA Stats since users never connect their wallets or sign any transactions (for now, I'm not familiar with further plans for swapping and opting in/out of staking pools)
@sensorium
kerrilija — Today at 10:13 AM
Speaking of security, ASA Stats users know their assets whereabouts at all time.
What other popular, very actively used ecosystem projects recieved 0 FUD from the beginning?
Community involvement is immense. Many regular users frequently request features and they get deployed.
It connects all (at least relevant) dApps in the ecosystem
sensorium — Today at 10:35 AM
Also Pera Wallet has a Discover tab implemented recently. It would be nice to see ASA Stats up there.
kerrilija — Today at 10:45 AM
DAO orientation should definitely be mentioned. And the "in-house" developement of multisig transactions by a DAO Governor and a community member.
@kerrilija
ipaleka — Today at 11:33 AM
I'll mention DragMZ AMS tool and our usage, GARD staking too, but the thing is that I sent a bunch of docs already for her/their preparation for the meeting and talking about what we are is either overlapping (it's not that word, but my English is poor as f*** before the first cofee) or disrespectful (implying they didn't read).
So my focus imo should completely be on questions, and they so far are:
kerrilija — Today at 11:46 AM
Great.
Discard this if you think it's inappropriate... I assume this meeting would be better if it's ecosystem talk predominantly, but I'll say this anyway.
"IT sector is suffering big losses at the moment, could this affect Algorand or crypto in general?" or "How will Algorand respond to current situation in IT?"
@kerrilija
sensorium — Today at 11:48 AM
Every sector apart from ammo production is suffering atm and probably will continue to suffer for quite some time
@ipaleka Did you try to participate in grant programs before? If so, what was the reason for rejection?
@ipaleka
sensorium — Today at 11:56 AM
Also I believe grant question should be very thoughtfully constructed and definately not the number 1. question to be asked
Apart from the grant, maybe a marketing push would also be a very helpful thing to achieve with them
kerrilija — Today at 11:59 AM
Who would you grant if you were the fundation?
sensorium — Today at 12:00 PM
Bike clubs
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:00 PM
Our roadmap https://github.com/asastats/docs/blob/main/roadmap.md was created while 6-7 of us were writing request for funding document. The answer was:
sensorium — Today at 12:01 PM
"highly competitive submissions"?
I do not see any app similar to asa stats, not even close
maybe at the time someone was trying to build something but never delivered
@kerrilija
ipaleka — Today at 12:06 PM
The meeting is 30 minutes long. HER task in the meeting afaic is the "ecossystem's question", so I'd rather cancel the meeting than helping the ecosystem in those 30 minutes too, just the way we have done in the last 16 months without a dime of funding, as opposite to tons of dead projects like here: https://www.algorand.foundation/nfts
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:09 PM
Our major problem has been only the money, and their/Foundation way to solve that problem is only by their Grant programs.
kerrilija — Today at 12:11 PM
This might be obvious (or dumb) but, what problems would money solve? We'd hire more developers and race through the roadmap much faster?
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:12 PM
Here's the whole thing:
https://discord.com/channels/906917846754418770/908054183805079606/931970448382652447
So this is the main reason:
Unfortunately we already have a few projects working on such a solution. We regret we couldn't award you with a grant for your team's good work thus far.
@ipaleka
sensorium — Today at 12:13 PM
And that's exactly why it should be very well constructed topic. Going hard with the question "wen grant" will repel them right away imo
DragMZ — Today at 12:13 PM
If it's the money and they know what ASA Stats is about (they've got the docs) then I'd ask ~"What grant options can you see available to ASA Stats?".
@ipaleka
sensorium — Today at 12:15 PM
again, i do not see any similar projects. That's why i think there is a high chance of recieving a grant but it has to be played out smart
DragMZ — Today at 12:15 PM
This isn't asking for money directly. They can "grant" by giving some help from technical / marketing people etc.
So basically leaves some space for creativity on their side.
@kerrilija
ipaleka — Today at 12:19 PM
Money would solve every problem ASA Stats has got. Simple as that.
NFT Explorer was destined to die. Try to comprehend why they didn't die.
I'm not saying we'd die, we won't for sure, but that's only because I believe in project, no other meaningful, practical and spiritual reason is behind.
sensorium — Today at 12:22 PM
Do you have an approximate number on how many people use asa stats daily?
I mean not daily, but active users
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:23 PM
I can provide that information but I don't have a valid reason to do that besides curiosity.
We don't track people and the moment DAO takes over I'll delete all the logs.
If the DAO want to track people they can do that.
sensorium — Today at 12:24 PM
Not to them, just asking here noe
now*
NFTExplorer has a massive user base for sure, that's why randgallery bought them. And algorand users would be lost without it
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:27 PM
Yep, that's why I said "curiosity". People come and go, in bullish time our servers work full time, in bearish time half or third.
sensorium — Today at 12:28 PM
In case the grant fails again, we should focus on getting people to use asa stats and increase the user base as much as possible
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:28 PM
They have a capacity that is around 25% or 33% of what ASA Stats API is capable of producing.
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:32 PM
"We" in this sentence got to be DAO (https://github.com/asastats/channel/wiki/GovernorCandidates) , in a month or two I'm out from community channels and will be focused only on GitHub.
sensorium — Today at 12:32 PM
Get to the level that Algorand users would be lost if ASA Stats were to shut down (i believe we are already at that level, we just need marketing and awareness)
yeah i dont mean us here
we as asastats community
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:35 PM
Our marketing started and finished with a single Reddit post 15 months ago, the reason why we didn't continue with the marketing is a single one...
Let me be clear with this, I could have done it differently. I could have been selling ASASTATS on open market last 14 months, but I decided not to do that in respect to our investors (all of them came from the community), some of them spent US$5,000 and me affecting the price that way wasn't something I like to do after the price is already decimated by bear market.
Also, I'm not mad to anyone, I'm so grateful to every person who has contributed to the project and those who use ASA Stats, I'm just saying that I'm not the person who should care about the problems of the ecosystem.
sensorium — Today at 12:45 PM
When I talk about marketing I'm not thinking of let's say selling ASA Stats token and using the funds for paid advertisements. To me marketing in this sense means being more active on social networks, making people aware that ASA Stats exists and how it works. How many users are aware there is now an App in Playstore and not just a web version?
The thing I did when I tried to do a project:
I got 100+ people to teach them about very beggings of entering Algorand ecosystem. One of the first things I presented them was ASA Stats. Many of them opened the app, some of them even invested into the token. That's the sort of marketning I'm thinking
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:52 PM
I absolutely understood you, sry I didn't use the exact phrase I was thinking of: marketing campaign".
I can and I have rewarded with ASASTATS any contribution to the projects, but I can't force people to do something and also I can't ask for anything.
At the same time I spent far more time than I should do on those aspects of the project, so me being involved in any marketing campaign is out of any question.
Therefore, do we need a marketing campaign?
We surely do.
How we can achieve it?
Money.
Simple as that. I'd use money to start it and conduct it.
How?
Hire a specialist and never think of it again.
sensorium — Today at 12:55 PM
Grant xd
sure, but if there is no money, how to go about it then?
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:56 PM
Money is there for sure, either by grant or by spending ASASTATS on open market.
sensorium — Today at 12:56 PM
Let's try to cross those 2 options just for the sake of it
Let's find one more backup plan
ipaleka — Today at 12:57 PM
But the thing is that funding the development (past, present and future) is far more prioritized over the marketing.
Because the engine can run and be kind of self-sustainable, but we need to finish it.
sensorium — Today at 12:59 PM
I wrote at the start of this thread about the Discover tab in Pera Wallet
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 12:59 PM
There a lot of backup plans, it's just that I don't have time. One of the plans is to sell 10% or even 50% of governance seat tokens to big investors.
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 1:01 PM
Our roadmap clearly defines what needs to be done in order to shift custody of the project from the Team to DAO. Everything else goes either here https://github.com/asastats/channel/wiki/FeaturesDependentOnUserWidgets or it's postponed to the DAO phase.
@ipaleka
sensorium — Today at 1:06 PM
This was for today's interview with Staci. Idk if she's the right person to ask or Pera Wallet team should be contacted
Getting into the Discover tab would bring visibility, the thing we're talking about now
one of the ways i think
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 1:10 PM
That's marketing, and also your stance here is that we need to increase the user base. I should emphasize (again, for so many times, just because this Discord is a pseudo-public space, if it was written on GitHub or Reddit I'd have just linked it) my position here:
finish the roadmap and allow the DAO to take over.
read 1)
DragMZ — Today at 1:12 PM
This seems like an indirect way of getting money for development by increasing the speculation activity so the Team can sell to get the funds.
sensorium — Today at 1:13 PM
No, not that we "need to" increase it. We were talking about getting awareness of ASA Stats without spending any money.
We also mentioned how nftexplorer didn't die. I'm just trying to get out suggestions how to reach that liquidty that's need but without a grant or foreign funds
And also I'm still not implying on selling tokens after users come
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 1:16 PM
This is the main reason for misunderstanding I believe: I don't care of ASASTATS liquidity, that's not my job. The only reason why I sometimes can care is to having plan B, and that's exactly what DragMZ is saying here: https://discord.com/channels/906917846754418770/1078588466939559966/1078650544954015815
DragMZ — Today at 1:19 PM
Which kind of makes thing simple and needs checking if Algorand can grant it directly or do whatever they can to bring the funds indirectly.
@ipaleka
kerrilija — Today at 1:21 PM
My point was: we need a grant, and the Foundation will give a grant to a project that convinced them that they are beneficial to the ecosystem or can bring new influx or money.
@dragmz
ipaleka — Today at 1:21 PM
Yes, I wrote 1) grant, but I was actually thinking of 1) funding. connecting us with investors is the same from my perspective (tho it's not the same from "yours").
@kerrilija
ipaleka — Today at 1:27 PM
Yep, you're totally right and DragMZ sums that up nicely here: https://discord.com/channels/906917846754418770/1078588466939559966/1078635740990279710
I'd like to say something else that's not so obvious to everyone. GamingToups called this server "a ghost town" once and nobody could blame him for that, we surely look like that sometimes. But the thing is that this community is unbelievable strong, potent and motivated. There have been many examples in the past, but let's just mention two recent ones: on Sunday we did a wonderful and valuable work with creating multisig account in a few hours (after a lot of preparation work by DragMZ) with a much of enthusiasm and dedication. And yesterday we prepared an article for GARD in a few hours the same way.
It's not that we are a ghost town, it's just that everything is well established and have been doing as intended - that's the reason why there are no so much members involvement during the average days in office.
@sensorium
ipaleka — Today at 1:56 PM
I checked about this here: https://blog.perawallet.app/pera-wallet-5-6-0-discover-series-browse-markets-and-dapps-81fb375401e7 That's about dApps, so basically we can end up there only through GARD, right?
