Video Playback is too big to fit on screen

I'm using the Android TV version (v0.3.10-r66) on a Pine A64 https://www.pine64.org/?page_id=1194

After starting video playback from apps such as HBOGO, DisneyGo, etc the size (at first) fits within the television screen. After about 10 seconds the video expands by about 4x and I only see the top left corner of the video.

Additionally, some apps are refusing to start playback because they are identifying the HDMI connection as an external screen (which is true, but it's the only screen)
