Motivation

The University Calendar has an exposed filter to limit Events by category: https://news.arizona.edu/calendar
They would like for this to use Enterprise Attributes instead of locally managed taxonomy terms, so that they can stay in sync with other enterprise events management.

Proposed Resolution

Describe the solution you'd like

It seems like this would be a good use case for the Quickstart Finder feature instead of just the dropdown that is currently in use on the University Calendar. This would allow the different groupings of terms to be visually distinct for the users while they are filtering.

  • Audiences
  • Event Format
  • Category
  • Topic

It might make sense for either Topic or Category to be collapsed by default or even potentially excluded.

Additional context

This is the third of three tickets to support adding Enterprise Attributes to the University Calendar.
The other two are:

This may make more sense as a custom view for just the University Calendar on News.arizona.edu, but I'm opening the ticket here for discussion of whether or not it should be a Quickstart feature. If it is added to Quickstart, it would need to be a new view instead of modifying any existing views.

I think it's worth noting that the existing calendar view already has functionality with the existing exposed filter that disables it if there are no options available for that filter. Here is where that takes place:

Given that enterprise attributes vocabulary does exist even on sites which do not use enterprise attributes (and on sites which do not use them, the vocabulary is just empty), I'd like to potentially see a filter added to this for the standard calendar view in addition to finder, which disables itself if there are no options, similar to the existing calendar taxonomy vocabulary.
