Notes from my 2/24/2034 meeting with the Data Science Group:
The Data Science Group’s GA usage history:
DSG has not made very much use of the data from GA for reporting in the past but would like to do so going forward
DSG uses Redshift GA data primarily for analyzing site traffic on key pages
Much of the current DSG data analytics and reporting are generated largely from Marketo
DSG would like to:
Become more familiar with GA4 tags, and learn what dimensions and metrics to recommend for Redshift ingestion
Understand how to make better use of GA data to support traffic for individual customers and to support expansion opportunities
Have access to tools to build dashboards in GA
Would like to use Data Studio to build dashboards for GA data
Overall, DSG is generally not as familiar with the GA4 tagging as they would like to be and need to become more familiar with the available dimensions and metrics that will support import into Redshift.
Recommendation:
DSG can use Looker Studio to view and evaluate our current set of GA4 dimensions and metrics and provide a list of these to create Redshift report queries.
Two distinct sets of Redshift report queries are needed:
Posit.co site
All subdomains sites
GDPR consent on posit.co enables a wider range of dimensions and metrics than it does on subdomains, which do not have GDPR enabled.
