Popup tip fades away slower than popup #400

Per #397 (review)

when mousing away from a listing popup, the little inverted triangle connecting the popup to the marker fades away at a different rate than the rest of the popup, resulting in a Cheshire-Cat-like effect

I spent some time investigating but was unable to locate the cause.
