I got error 500 just after updating to 1.x-2.8.0 form 1.x-2.6.2

mmm the 1.x-2.8.0 release is not shown here at github but on backdropcms web site. what's wrong?

I just did the same fix Paul Rooney did. I assume the Backdrop team realized there was an issue, but it's a US holiday today, so they pulled it until they could deal with it. But Paul's fix is just adding a semicolon, if you'd like to do the same.

Confirmed. There is a missing semicolon at the end of line 446 of the googleanalytics.module file. It's in the googleanalytics_form_user_profile_form_alter() function. That's what causes the error, which shows in my log as:
ParseError: syntax error, unexpected token "if" in backdrop_load() (line 448 of /modules/googleanalytics/googleanalytics.module).
