Automatically add upcoming office hours and user group events (using module from forum site) #1067
Comments
As part of running Backdrop Office Hours, I also keep the Backdrop Office Hours events updated on the website. We had two weeks off because of US Holidays, and I fell behind in keeping up those event listings. We only post 4 events at a time so our events do not crowd out bigger events like Backdrop Live that is a few months out. That means I have to keep up regularly so those events always show up. (That's not always my strong suit)... I can't speak for the other events, but I have updated them now and intent to keep them up ongoing. I'm open to any changes people want to make for listing events, if that would help. |
thanks a lot for adding hours, i am sending this link to two users from Reddit |
It sounds like the reason for this ticket been solved by creating an office hours or user group event for the events page. On the forum site, I had developed a module to automatically create a (forum topic) node every week, after the current meetings had happened. (I had also been manually creating all the nodes ahead of time, and scheduling them to publish at the desired dates in the future.) Perhaps that module should be released to contrib, and used here, to automatically create a new (event) node each week after the office hours or user-group meeting has ended. I'm going to re-prupose this issue to focus on adding that feature. (also assigning to myself) |
thank you, that would be great! We need easier way to for people to find all kind of events and be able to add them to their calendars. |
On the regular basis I am sending information about community support to those who are new to backdrop or learning. I want to be able to send out one link https://backdropcms.org/news/events and see there four upcoming user group events and office hours so new potential users can join these events without clicking four times to get information.
