The problem: after extensive work on a song, you can end up with lots of empty slots, looking sad like this:
This is kinda messy especially if you want to share your .sts or have it as an example demo. ;)
Proposed solution:
"Move" existing instruments/brrs "up" to fill empty slots as you delete things. This is possibly the most expected and unobtrusive way from the point of view of end users. Under the hood I assume it would require some sort of re-calculation/re-assignment of instrument/brr numbers and to update them in the pattern data accordingly, each time this happens.
This is not just a cosmetic improvement - it helps with organisation too.
