Dear @MarkusTiede I know by @lenatichy that BFH business school runs a Matrix backend.
In the October 2023's Moodle version an intergration with Matrix is built in see https://docs.moodle.org/403/en/Communication so that lecturers for each class can activate a course wide Matrix room for themselves and their students.
I would very much like to try that out. Could you help me out with these parameters I'd need?
(First, on a dev instance. The update of the productive system would then be 15.02.2024.)

To configure your Moodle LMS instance to use the Matrix provider:

  • Enter the URL of your Synapse server in the Homeserver URL (matrixhomeserverurl) field
  • Enter the Synapse server API Access token in the Access token (matrixaccesstoken) field
  • Enter the URL of the Element web server in the Element web URL (matrixelementurl) field

That would be awesome!

Best,
Luca

Hi @lucaboesch thanks for bringing this up! I'll check with Dominic the connection details & capabilities of our instance and get back to you.

HI all

Dominic involved me in this issue as the head of DSL.
We are indeed running a Matrix-Backend, but not for BFH-W but solely for internal DSL purposes.

So personally I'd rather we do not use this instance for testings, as we will not be able to provide the resources necessary to host matrix-rooms for lectures.

If this would be something that is needed/wanted DSL could certainly help in setting up a Matrix backend BFH wide on the right infrastructure.

Hi @lucaboesch - is that ok for you? Would you mind contacting @lunactic directly whether a dedicated test-instance should / could be provided by the DSL?
