Novastar VX1000 isn't showing any input options in the dropdown

I'm relatively new to companion so forgive me if I'm being an idiot, but having successfully made the connection to the novastar and trying to add a button to switch between inputs I go into the drop down menu and it says no inputs. I can't seem to manually input the number either.
Technically speaking the unit is actually a Chauvet VIPdrive 10-5 nova. But when I run SmartLCT it is recognised as a novastarVX1000 so I'm assuming it's just been repackaged.
Any help would be great. I literally just want to be able to switch between two inputs and am thinking it shouldn't be this hard
