I don't think that would be a good idea because it may get quite complext to develop that in general for a software like Companion that's developed for three different operating systems. But I could imagine that it would be possible to add a sound player to the raspberry image of companion that always works with the sound out put of the raspberry (and maybe even with usb soundcards - I don't know existing linux sound players), but it may be easier to control a separate software running in the background with a regular module than giving a control software like companion other tasks than controlling systems. |

I recently switched to Linux. Bitfocus Companion has been a great Stream Deck alternative, mainly for the timed transition feature which none of the other alternatives so far support.
One thing I am looking for, though, is the ability to simply press a button to trigger a sound - like a fanfare. The Elgato software did this natively - no hotkeys or having to have dedicated soundboard software or VLC open; you just pressed the button and it played the associated soundfile through the system.
My immediate workaround is to simply create a scene with the soundfile in OBS and used an automatic transition to switch back once the sound is played, but the more sounds you want the more scenes you need to create. I did look for a few soundboards, but they need to be open as well and require you to set combination keyboard shortcuts. I don't want things becoming too complicated.
But I'm new to this and I might simply not know what I'm looking for and any advice is welcome.
