When using [free versioon] eqmac and magic keyboard buttons to change volume. If I press the mute button, or reduce the volume to zero then as expected, the sound is muted.

However, pressing the mute or volume up buttons does not restore the sound.

Opening the UI I can see that the volume button is red instead of green.

Clicking on the button restores the sound.

Steps to Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour (feel free to change the placeholder as you need):

  1. Press mute
  2. Press mute again
  3. Sound is not restored
  4. Open UI
  5. Click the red volume button. Button turns green and sound is restored.

Expected behaviour
Pressing the mute or volume up should restore the sound without the need to open the UI and click the volume button.

Setup information:

  • Audio device used for playback: Samsung TV
  • Audio transmission interface: HDMI
  • macOS Version: 13.6.1 (M2)
  • eqMac Version 1.8.7
  • eqMac UI Version 5.1.3

Can you/Did you quit eqMac and confirm that the unmute (by pressing mute again or volume up) works as expected?

Also when you use 'volume up' does pressing it many times also don't work? The only time when I can't 'unmute' by pressing 'mute' button is when 'mute' was triggered by volume down, that also happens without eqMac so it's system behaviour, however pressing volume up multiple times restores the volume. Other than that is seems to be working on our end.

Many times... This is quite consistent. Whether you mute by using the mute button, or by lowing the volume to zero, the only way to get the sound back is to open the app and click the red volume knob so it turns green again.

I am also using Volume Control (so I can adjust iTunes volume independently of the system volume) [https://github.com/alberti42/Volume-Control/issues]. There seems to be a clash between the two...

Muting the iTunes volume works fine. Muting the system volume causes eqMac to stay muted.

NOTE: When the mute button is pressed, eqMac shows the volume % value returning the the pre-mute value. However, the button remains red and there is no sound until you click the button.

Problem could be with either eqMac or Volume Control.

That's useful to know, I'll find some time and will try using the Volume Control and see if I can get this issue to occur
