Can touchpad style navigation be added as an option? 

The entire screen can be used to control the remote mouse cursor as if it
were a laptop's touchpad. I would think that clicking and dragging, double
tapping etc would be a lot more intuitive as well as virtual scrolling
along the right and bottom borders. Multitouch could still be used to zoom
in/out.
