Details and Logistics

• Five day intensive bootcamp to get everyone up to speed with basic computational skills
• NO other classes, meetings, lab work, lab meetings, etc.
• Please sign into Zoom by 9:45am ET
• TA's: Kate Weaver, Stephanie Yan, and Dylan James Taylor

Preliminary work

1. Join our Slack channel [video][slides]
2. Create a Zoom account through your JHU email and let your TA know your account info. [Walkthrough here]
3. Create GitHub account and "watch" bxlab/qbb2020 [video][slides]
4. Complete the "Programming with Python" lesson on Binder [video][slides]
   • Note that there are 12 parts (01-intro.ipynb thru 12-cmdline.ipynb)
   • This is estimated to take ~ 8 hrs.
5. Complete the "The Unix Shell" lesson on MARCC [video][slides]
   • There are 7 parts. You only need to go through the first 4.
   • This is estimated to take ~ 2 hrs.
6. Complete the "Version Control with Git" lesson on MARCC [video][slides]
   • There are 14 parts. You only need to go through the first 7.
   • This is estimated to take ~ 2 hrs.
7. Pre-Assessment
   • Part 1 & 2: CL+Git
   • Part 3: Python
   • Hard deadline: Aug 29, 7pm ET
   • Email to TA upon completion
   • This is estimated to take ~ 3 hrs.
