Last.fm, IGDB, and TMDB are fine for now, but the big news from Twitter and Reddit over the past few months has me worried about the future of free APIs in general. It would be good to line up some alternatives in case one of the three APIs used by Topsters shuts down or goes paid.

Chartr offers iTunes and Discogs. I remember something about the iTunes API terms of service being impossible to work with for a topster site. Discogs seems interesting though (and it's worth noting that I'd need to cut the cache timer down to 6 hours according to their TOS).

I haven't looked around for TV/movie/game APIs since 2021 so it's possible that there's nicer stuff out there now.
