Hi,
I am trying to use Multipass (mainly to install MicroK8S) in an environment without any internet access. Is it possible to download files manually copy them to the machine and install instances? All is happening in Windows 10.

Thanks!

Hi @htg200, I'm afraid that's not possible at the moment.

We're working on enabling launching local images (#1260), and you could then snap download microk8s to get the snap in. Beyond that, I'm not sure how feasible would it be to get microk8s fully working offline.

@ktsakalozos @joedborg any comment on this?

In a such offline deployment the Kubernetes services will start but the addons and workloads may reference public registries. You cold address this either via a proxy or a local registry.

Thank you! Your massage here is to wait until that feature is ready.
I look at Multipass+MicroK8s as an alternative to docker desktop in Windows with all its problems. If Multipass works ofline, there can be offline images registries and MicroK8s scripts can be modified to get the Kubernetes resources from somewhere else.

I'm also looking for this feature. In my case, I'm trying to use multipass in China where the build-in image download step is very slow. Moreover, whenever the download got interrupted, a restart loses the previous download progress.

As #1593 has been closed, I'm looking forward this one 🤞 🙂 which would enable offline Multipass deployments on non-Linux platforms. At least file:// image source could be allowed for everyone to make this happen.

P.S. Anyone who sees more political reasons disabling this on Win/Mac, :] you may express it by 👀 emoji.

I tried this feature today using version 1.12.2 on MacOS but it seems not fixed yet.
