Product page does incorrectly calculates currency

I have a curious case, been troubleshooting but can't find the issue. help would be appreciated.

When using the secondary currency and selecting a product, it displays the primary currency price, but associates it with the secondary currency. Toggling the currency tab at this point amplifies the error.

There must be a currency selector i'm missing somewhere - any ideas?

base currency is ZAR. approx 15:1 exchange rate to US$
the first image shows the correct ZAR price, but it's associated it with USD.

Changing the currency at this point multiplies the ZAR price by 15...
