Crashes occasionally with constant use

I have the current F-Droid builds of Cloak and Shadowsocks running on a few mid-range phones, mostly Samsungs. Battery optimization is disabled for both. Every 1-2 days Cloak dies, and doesn't work again until the connection is restarted in Shadowsocks. This never happens with pure ss configs, only with the Cloak plugin.

The VPN is connected at all times but only for selected apps, so there may be hours when no traffic is sent through Cloak. Maybe it's just getting killed by Android? Not sure how to debug this. Anything I can try?
