In the upcoming releases of 6LBR, we will
- improve the integration between the Native Border Router and the Linux host
- externalize some parts of the IPv6 services towards the Linux host
- improve the user configuration
- provide tools to perform RPL live debugging
- provide support for COOJA simulations
- grant open access to our 6LBR-enabled WSN testbed
Also, the 6LBR serves as an experimental platform to investigate more advanced topics like :
- Mote mobility across WSNs : Although the basic mechanism are available in version 1.0 of 6LBR, there are many ways to improve the mote mobility and the reactivity of the system as a whole.
- Border Router redundancy : Industrial deployment requires reliability, and as single point of failure the 6LBR is a critical point of a network. We will investigate and develop mechanism to to easily deploy and interconnect redundant Border Routers.
- Multi-instance RPL : Multi-instance is an underdeveloped area of RPL. Providing multiple DAGs and Instances will allow the support of applications with different types of QoS on the same infrastructure and traffic balancing between Border Routers
