Users had trouble dragging, defaulted to clicking

What options do we have to make the slider more clickable?

Tick marks.
In the beginning, no slider but show in text: both full retirement age and full retirement age month/year.

Say you're borne in May

Select your "Month of claiming SSA benefits"

May - Same as Birth Month
June - +1 Month
July - +2 Months
August - +3 Months
et cetera...

If slider is set to 70 years, no months can be added.
