Here's an email that Chris Johnson from GEOHuntsville sent me:
We've been working on a companion tool (Open Source software) called GeoEvent Pages. It is another NGA open source tool and it works nicely with Blueprint for Safety. We've been testing it internally to provide situational awareness of operations and exercises.
Event pages could also be used to provide an excellent citizen engagement "front door" as well as serve as an outward facing page for all municipal incident driven data to flow to citizens in time of emergency. In addition, it would provide routine data to citizens 24/7
Based on Django and Python. Collaboration could easily be provided through GitHub.
All local map data provided in real time by City of Huntsville and easily integrated with other sources.
Sustainable base as it has lots of options for expansion as we get more organized and our ideas grow.
Could be an excellent "open data" platform for cities to share information with the their citizens.
We could easily promote progress/efforts through other Code4 operations through our Exemplar City concept. -- Perhaps even offer some outreach/education on the efforts.
