Discrepancy in config.guess between Releases and Master Branch

I noticed that the config.guess file in the releases of the project differs from the one present in the master branch. I want to understand what is the reason for the difference between the two?

master has gone through a lot of changes, including updates to the buildsystem, which haven't been released so far.
