General

  • Thruster effects
  • Improved shield graphic (not round white circle)
  • Damaged shield graphics
  • Reduce static ‘rush, pause, and fire’ combat, even if only aesthetic (causing ships to orbit/encircle each other in some conditions, at least)
  • Graphical effect as items such as stun, shot repeller, knockback, spike trap, spikey death,and counter effect activate.
  • Successful attacks should display a ‘strike’ effect rather than simply be... absorbed.
  • A background (preferrably moving or procedurally-generated)
  • More variation in firing sounds
  • Variation in bullet shapes by ship

Ship

  • At level start, assassins should be invisible until first strike.
  • Mothership spawns drones, each fast and inflicting a small quantity of its damage.
  • Shields visually flicker upon being struck by drainer laser.
  • Friendly lasers, enemy lasers and boss lasers should be of unique colours.
  • Boss lasers should be wider with separate sound effect.
