How to edit a profile

I helped John ffitch set up his site/profile/account and pasted in a long profile, which is not displayed completely (no scroll bars) and which I would like to edit down, but I cannot do this in any simple way.
Once the profile is there - it seems it cannot be edited (probably in the source, but.. would be nice to have a button/option - edit profile.
