Freezes entire computer

I used this add-on for years, it was one of the first add-ons I installed when I started using Firefox and I have loved it. However, recently (not sure for how long) it freezes my entire computer for several seconds occasionally when hovering over images. Nothing responds, I can't move the mouse or bring up task manager or interact in any way until the image has loaded. I am currently on Firefox 50.0 and using version 4.0 of Thumbnail Zoom Plus.

That's very strange; nothing the add-on can do should be able to have that effect. I wonder if it's triggering a problem in the graphics card or its driver?
