Hey! A long time player here, thanks a lot for running the contest :)
I've been thinking that with the constant growth of the player base it's more and more often that many people have picked the same set of rikishi. E.g. right now I'm in the group of 10 (!) people who all have identical picks. I feel like it's getting to the point when it's a bit too much when there might be 10 winners of the same contest, right? So, what do you think of introducing some kind of a tiebreaker mechanic? Something that will not affect the "result" per se (that is, the number of wins that counts towards the yearly standings) but will only help to pick a single winner for the contest. This might be some stat that players will have to guess that has a decent amount of randomness & also variety to it. For instance: pick a rikishi who will have the most non-kyujo losses. Or: guess winners of special prizes. Or maybe some other idea as well, it's just something I came up with in 10 minutes.

Hey, yeah I like that idea! Though on the other hand, maybe having a bigger group of champions isn't so bad so it doesn't feel completely impossible to win a trophy as the pool gets bigger… Or maybe you get a jun-yusho (silver?) trophy if you're in the winning group but lose the tie-breaker. I'll chat with gregrrr about it and see what he thinks. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh btw just remembered another good example of a tiebreaker. I'm currently participating in the NBA "guess the playoff bracket" contest where you have to pick which teams win and in how many games, pretty straightforward. But they have an interesting tiebreaker: you have to guess a point difference of the game 1 of the finals. This is probably a little bit too random but definitely provides decent variety.
