Readers could have questions like this:

  • I found a typo. How can I help to fix it?
  • I have a proposal for the next version of the spec. How can I start a discussion?
  • I have an idea but I am not sure if this was already discussed. Where can I find previous discussions?
  • I have an idea but I am not sure if it should open an issue with datacite, schema, or schema-docs
  • Are there formal requirements for proposals?
  • Is participation even wanted?

All this could be answered in a paragraph somewhere in the introduction.

Hi @xi, thanks for the suggestion, we will work on making this clearer in the docs.

To answer your questions here:

  • Typos: email us at [email protected]
  • Proposals: you can submit suggestions to us, please see this page for more information and the link to the suggestions form: Contribute to the DataCite Metadata Schema. There are no formal requirements for proposals. Participation is definitely wanted!
  • Visibility for past discussions: This is something we're working on improving! There is some discussion on the PID Forum and you can see ideas that are currently in the works on the Trello board. If you're not sure, the best thing is to submit your idea via the form above.
  • GitHub issues: The best way to report an issue related to DataCite services or metadata is via our support channel [email protected]. This way we can ensure it is triaged to the right people, in line with our standard workflows and you get a faster response.
