How can I organise images for galleries in blog posts?

I understand correctly that I can only store images in /media/images/, right?
I have a gallery for many blog posts. Since I can't put anything in the blog post folder, do I have to create a substructure in /media/images/ so that I can include the gallery with [gallery postBlabla/ name zoom 150]? Is it just me that seems awkward? Or am I taking a route that is too complicated?

Since you can use HTML in the Markdown files, you can also proceed in such a way that you create a <div class="gallery"> in the text and place the individual images in it using the upload function of Yellow.

You may lose a few options that yellow-gallery offers, but I reckon it's a quick work around when you're on the move.

I don't find Yellow's image management perfect either. The images must be clearly named, then it also works without subfolders. It would be good, for example, to use the name of the post in combination with a consecutive number.

The following should work:

with

[gallery your-post.*jpg name zoom 25%]

If, for example, you are blogging from the road, it is somewhat inconvenient to rename the files beforehand.

Here are some regular expression examples for the [gallery] shortcut:

your-post.*jpg = image files starting with "your-post" followed by whatever and "jpg"
your-post.*jpeg = image files starting with "your-post" followed by whatever and "jpeg"
your-post/ = image files from subfolder "your-post" followed by whatever
your-post = image files starting with "your-post" followed by whatever
.* = all image files

Yes, the media/images folder is the place to store your images. The recommended approach is to rename image files and group them in a meaningful way, either keep images in one folder or split them into multiple sub folders, then use a regular expression (regex) in the Markdown shortcut. This is how most of the image related extensions work at the moment. I agree that image management in the web browser is not that convenient at the moment, it is only a file uploader, but it does not have to stay that way. The next step would be to come up with better alternatives, talk about the pro and contra of different alternatives and finally make something that is easier to use. I didn't know about the * and now I understand it. This is good to work with. Doesn't the * have to come before the .jpg?

The . represents any single character in a regex and the * is the quantifier.
With my-image.*jpg you will get all image filenames starting with "my-image" followed by any number of any single character and ending on "jpg"
That is why the .* is the correct sequence for the regex.
