How to ask good questions?

Hello, this is a general question. I assume that asking good questions leads to better answers.

What you can do:

• Think of one short question that summarises the topic, write it down first.
• Imagine you are writing to a friend or colleague, describe what you want to do.
• Use an online translator, if English is not your first language.
• Start a new discussion for each question.

What the contributing guidelines recommend:

• Write the question in the title, it's the first thing everyone will see.
• Describe as precisely as possible what you want to do and which problems you have.
• Add an example, for example Markdown, settings or your source code.
• Select an answer, when your question has been answered.

What a good question looks like:

Note

Ask questions that have a possible answer. Avoid asking questions where: nobody is able to understand what you want to do, every answer is equally valid, there is no actual problem to be solved, it is a complaint disguised as a question. Otherwise, your question may be flagged or deleted.

In general, a good starting point are the contributing guidelines and existing questions.
