Magic scene recorder

Roughly: I'd like to be able to get a snapshot of the current statuses of all (or more likely, a subset) of devices in a given room, store that to a scene (or the logical equivalent if I can't leverage to do what I want).

Stuff I don't know:

• can I use zigbee2mqtt's scenes, even partially, or do I need to implement myself
• how do I define rooms? I'm no longer interested in spending a ton of effort integrating with Home Assistant, based on the challenges of that approach up until now, and I also just don't want to depend on another product for features
