Task 1: Product classification

We need to define some kind of treated-products group and control-products group, or in any case groups of products that it can be interesting to look at. Initial proposal: 1) medical products, covid related; 2) medical products, non-covid related, 3) non medical products. Looking at trends by product would be useful to inform group definition.

Product classification

• To define COVID products: use the TED classification on COVID products
• Construct and index to classify contracts to define comparison group
• Differentiate between contracts/product COVID related vs contracts/products health related vs contracts/products non health related -> 3 products classification to perform analysis pooled and non-pooled

Supplier main activity

• Firm registry might indicate the main activity of the company. For Romania, use the NACE codes.
