<li>不管在哪種制度中，每一位員工最後都會升到自己不適任的位置。</li>
<li>我們最後一次的升職，一定會讓我們從游刃有餘的職位，升到無法勝任的位置。</li>
<li>彼得僵局：升遷位置上已經有個不適任者卡在那裡，主管的主管已經不信任主管的話，你只能被卡住或是換個道路。</li>

<ul>
<li>永無止境的準備</li>
<li>專精支微末節的小事</li>
<li>以形象蓋過工作表現</li>
<li>做與工作完全不相干的事</li>
<li>成為職務代理人</li>
<li>集中火力</li>

<li>階級去角質：除去能力超過該階級和該階級不適任者的行為。</li>
<li>雞肋升遷：升遷後所做的事沒有變化，只有頭銜沒有產出，會造成「階級退化」，使該階級不再可信，只能再信任更高的階級。例：從信任大學文憑到現在信任研究所文憑。</li>
<li>平行升遷：換個名字再做一次。</li>
<li>適任頂峰：待在適任位置的期間</li>
