what variable footers mean

This stopped to work with new themes in 2.3, and theme.html introduced. There is already issue about this - asking for working example

Standard way:

You put footer HTML code into theme.html or into layouts html files. But this way you can't switch footer in theme preferencies.

Menu manager looks like this (everything works)

According documentation you should use {---FOOTER---} for variable footers (see bootstrap 5 theme shortcodes)

I have prepared footers this way:

and you can select footer you like this way, standard theme preferencies.

Before I used custom theme shortcode for footer, but then Menu areas (those blue areas) are not displayed at all.

Now it started to work... no idea why. the code is the same.
Is it cached somewhere?

There should be 6 menus, only 4 are in select menu.

Ok, I renamed all footer menus to have them unigue and result?

the file name is from

$pref = e107::pref('theme', 'footer');
$key = 	varset($pref, 'footer-01');

so on left side it is probably looking for bootstrap3 prefs, not frontend theme... this sounds familiar...

Never use shortcuts related to theme if it is related to menu manager.

Problem is that "long" way is not working either.
